Will local languages survive the AI age?

Languages do not disappear through prohibition. They disappear when a new generation finds another language more useful, more natural, more rewarding. Many indigenous languages vanished exactly this way, not by force but by everyday convenience.

Whether German, Swiss German, French, Italian and Romansh remain living languages in Switzerland, or whether Spanish dialects, African and Asian languages keep their place in daily life, is being decided now, in bedrooms, classrooms and offices, by the tools people use every day.

It is up to us. Parents, teachers, schools, employers and policymakers can decide that people should understand where their AI comes from, use it with awareness, and have good local alternatives to choose from.

We help make that choice an informed one, and we help people who lose their jobs to build new skills in their own language as well as in English. Your donation keeps those courses free.
